Classic Korean Seafood Pancake Recipe (Haemul Pajeon)–A Flavorful and Tasty Appetizer

Ingredients.

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 1 onion, chopped finely
  • 1 cup squid, shrimp, or other seafood, chopped
  • 3 tbs. cooking oil
  • 1 tbs. soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. sesame oil
  • 2 tsp. vinegar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour and water, stirring to combine. Add in the eggs and stir until the batter is smooth.
  2. Stir in the garlic, green onions, onion, and seafood.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of the cooking oil and swirl to coat the pan.
  4. Pour the batter into the skillet, spreading evenly. Cook for about 10 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the pancake is cooked through.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, and vinegar.
  6. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of cooking oil to the skillet and pour the sauce over the pancake. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Transfer the pancake to a plate and enjoy!
